As a motivational speaker, writer, business consultant, and the CEO and President of the Dynamic Training Institute, I was invited over to Sympulse 2020 for a Celebrity Guest Interview.
The interview began with us discussing the vision of the Dynamic Training Institute, which is – “To Create Leaders of Tomorrow, irrespective of whether they are students or adults.” The institute achieves this vision by providing multiple avenues for motivated individuals to learn a diverse range of skills, which include learning presentation skills, critical thinking, and public speaking.
For students and young adults, the weekly Leadership program teaches them the essentials of being a leader right from learning how to greet people to time management and self-discipline. Our multiple tie-ups with universities have helped us teach the Indian youth soft skills, which are seldom taught in the curriculum. The corporate training program has helped us impart knowledge on such life skills and many more such as learning how to ace a job interview, how to develop the right financial habits to achieve success, to employees of corporations striving for success.
We went on to discuss The Young Leaders Symposium, which has helped students who have participated in my leadership and public speaking classes to become professional speakers and talk about important topics like managing and achieving your goals, the impact of toxic friends, and many more in a student-based manner.
We later discussed the pressures Indian students face, which limits their exposure to such life-changing activities. Many parents today believe that if their child can get the right report card, they are ready to take on the world not realizing that unless their child learns how to present properly or think effectively, they will always end up working for someone who can do those things. Nobody has gotten a promotion for scoring 98% in their board exams. You get a promotion because you have a strong work ethic, communicate better, etc. The Dynamic Training Model United Nations (DTMUN) helps children as young as the age of 10 learn these skills by creating a safe platform for children to deliberate and discuss an array of topics.
Midway through, Adri asked me, “What advice would I give to the students?” I replied by telling them to change the perceptions they have about themselves. Instead of those perceptions that you have about your fears, your limitations, and your opportunities go out there – Learn something. Do something. Take the opportunity that scares you because it’s in that opportunity that is out of your comfort zone that you’re going to find out what you are made of and what
you are supposed to become.
I am not a certified teacher and I never thought I could teach. Just by trying something that was way out of my comfort zone, I discovered my passion. Every summer several hundred children come to me to learn Public Speaking. Many of them are often scared about forgetting their speech midway or not delivering it properly. I then ask them this question, “If you already knew how to give a perfect speech then why am I here?” Whenever we step out of our comfort zones, we learn a lot of new things. You might fail the first few times, but it isn’t a failure at all when you think about the experience you have gained.
When I first moved here from The United States, I never intended to stay for more than a year. I started public speaking classes on the recommendation of a parent. One thing led to another and seven years later I now visit America and say things like, “Yeah! I will do that when I get back home.”
I faced a lot of challenges too. I didn’t know anything or anybody in Pune, not something as simple as where to get my groceries, but those challenges subsided eventually. As I think about it, all the platforms that The Dynamic Training Institute has created are because I was ready to face challenges. Always searching for new opportunities and being open to experiencing new things has completely transformed my life and I’m sure it will transform yours too if you give it a chance.
